Senior Computer Science Major

I'm looking for a full time software engineering position. Experience with both front end and back end services, quality assurance, product management, and database design and management. Good team member, great communication skills, fast learner, and ambitious worker.

I recently graduated cum laude from Carleton College with distinction in my major of Computer Science. I am currently located near Boulder, CO and am mainly looking for local opportunities. A subset of my course work is available below. You can check out my projects here.

Computer Science Grader, Carleton College

I’ve graded several Computer Science classes, including Intro to CS, Software Design, and Organization/Architecture. I gained experience in understanding and evaluating different individuals’ code and was able to work closely with the professors of the classes.

Computer Science Prefect, Carleton College

As a prefect I held twice weekly Intro to Computer Science review sessions where I prepared and teach material to provide supplemental instruction to around 10 students per session. Sessions are group discussions, question answering, worksheet review, and problem solving that will be helpful to the students’ understanding of CS.

“She made helpful practice problems, helped me visualize the material by writing it out on the board and talking it through, and was always willing to explain things differently if I got caught up.”

— A student in Into CS, on a Prefect Evaluation Sheet upon being asked how the prefect helped supplement coursework

“idk she was pretty dope”

— Another student, upon being asked what more the prefect could do to improve learning

Software Engineering Intern, Tendril Inc.

At Tendril, I worked as part of a large team focused on designing a new product. My first code changes were in production within a week, which represents the fast paced summer season that the company undergoes. I learned about structuring code in an efficient manner, organizing databases for other’s to be able to use easily, communicating with team members, and what it means to be a contributing member of a group.

“She jumped in with both feet and took on several production issues and enhancements.”

— Casey Anderson, Engineering Development Manager

“Carolyn is a fast learner, quick to self-start, and has a wonderfully positive attitude. I had the pleasure of having her on my team during a particularly hectic time in our product’s lifecycle; her help during that time was immediately noticed by everyone up to the C-suite.”

— Jason Zerbe, Senior Software Engineer

Project Management Intern, Knowledge Factor

I worked for the director of PMO and assisted her in organizing workers and researching Agile Principles, Scrum, and Kanban. I prepared a presentation on development strategies that I delivered to the whole company, including the CEO and all management. I learned communication skills, development tools and techniques, and management principles.
